In my original blog I hinted at a story where a man was drinking and smoking when we got to his home for his move. This is the detailed account of that turn of events.
In August of 2017 we had a referral from a very high-profile realtor in Springfield Missouri. The couple, let’s call them the “Unprepared’s”, were moving out of state. The day we went to do the in-home estimate, we walked into a very nice larger home that had already begun to be packed. There was a lot of stuff in this house, but a month out this family had already started preparing, we took this as a great sign. They assured us that the home would be ready to move, in fact, their maid was tasked with packing the home daily for the next month. This move was going to be Easy Breezy.
The day of the move, we show up thinking that everything was going to be ready. We knocked on the door, had two trucks ready, and walked in knowing it was going to be a long day. Mrs. Unprepared was already at the new home leaving her husband and her maid to pack the home in preparation for the big move. We walked in and we found Mr. Unprepared drinking a glass of whiskey and smoking marijuana at 8:30 in the morning. He was instructing the poor maid to hurry and pack because the movers were there. He then retired to the back deck, where he continued to imbibe throughout the day.
I have to say, I was very proud of my team. They took it all in stride, helped pack, loaded the truck in an extremely timely manner under the circumstances, and didn’t partake in any of the (most definitely offered) substances. We spent the day emptying the old home, and even got the trucks down to the new home so we could unload the next day.
The point of the story is, we see almost every imaginable hurdle as movers, and these folks were happy to pay us for the extra work we had to do. Naming our company Breezy Moving doesn’t guarantee that we are going to have any easy time moving you. It simply means that we are going to make your move as Easy Breezy on you as possible. So, if you want to drink and smoke while we move you, its okay by us.
